Freelance dance artists required

What: Ludus Dance is looking to increase both its pool of freelance dance artists and the range of dance services on offer for project work across Lancashire.

Where: Dance artists will be based in or able to deliver work in the East Lancashire area, covering Burnley, Blackburn, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale.

For: At this stage the company is interested in hearing from dance artists who already work professionally and have experience of working with different community groups and projects. In particular, there is a demand for artists with the following:
• experience of teaching culturally diverse dance styles, such as street / hip hop, Bollywood, classical Indian, African, folk dancing including Irish, Polish, etc
• experience of teaching ballroom dance and styles.

As a company Ludus has an inclusive teaching ethos. The majority of its projects are with people in communities, not simply ‘dancers’. Therefore applicants must be able to work with mixed ability groups, untrained ‘dancers’ of all ages and experiences and have a capacity for delivering entertaining, accessible, people-centred workshops. Ludus also requires applicants to have their own insurance and current CRB clearance. Recruitment is ongoing.

How to apply: If interested, phone Anna Daly on 01524 35936 or email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it   for an application form.

For further information: For those who are not yet very experienced or qualified but are interested in developing this way of working with dance in community groups, contact Anna Daly, as Ludus will be looking at developing training opportunities for short modules and shadowing alongside the Ludus Dance Development Team.
