Creative Practitioner Bursary Scheme

What: Cumbria Arts in Education is pleased to launch our new Professional Development Bursary Scheme available from September 2008.

Who can apply?
The scheme is available to:
-Mentee and lead creative practitioners participating in the current Mentoring programme (Sept 08-Mar 09)
-Practitioners who have participated and fully completed the mentoring programme between April 2004 & March 2008 and who are currently actively working with young people in a creative context
-Lead practitioners who have acted as mentors on the programme since April 2004 and who are currently actively working with young people in a creative context.



What we will fund

Bursaries can be awarded for the following activities:

a) Attending training or professional development courses, events or conferences relating to improvement of practice of working with young people in a creative context. The bursary can be used to cover course fees and resources such as publications.

b) Establishing a creative learning project within a school or other setting with young people eg. the bursary may be used towards the practitioner’s preparation or delivery time within the project.

c) As a contribution towards the fees of another practitioner who will be providing guidance or advice to the mentee in preparing or delivering a project with young people.

d) As a contribution towards the costs of a creative learning project that a school or other setting may part fund via Creative Futures Cumbria through the Creative Development Grant.

When to apply

Applications may be submitted at any time between 1st September 2008 and 1st February 2009. Applications will be considered by CFC staff on a rolling programme. However, it is important that a signed hard copy of application and accompanying material, such as course details, is received at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the planned activity.
