Creative Development Grants
Projects we have supported…..
Nine projects we have supported through the Creative Development Grant Programme are completed, underway or in the pipeline for next term. These include…
Young Parents/Impact Development Housing
As part of Impact’s programme to support groups of young parents in Carlisle, Workington and Penrith, creative practitioners Mona Keeling and Thom Scullion of ‘Off-the-Rails’ rose to the challenge of working with the young parents AND their babies and toddlers. The three groups investigated what they were proud of in their local environment, stories from their own childhood that they wanted to share and the resulting DVD was viewed at an event for all at Eden Rural Foyer, Penrith. The film will provide evidence for the Bronze Arts Awards which the young parents had the opportunity to pursue as part of the project.
Low Luckens Farm, Brampton ‘Exploring the Four Elements’
Creative environmental project with creative practitioner/Creative Ambassador/CFC Mentee Jude Stoll with 90 7-11 year olds from St Bede’s Primary School, Carlisle. The children will have sessions with Jude Stoll in school and then three visits to Low Luckens Organic Learning Resource Centre where the children will use the farm and its surroundings as stimulus to exploring, observing, sketching and creating.

Creative practitioner Tim Wright will provide print making workshops for participants 8 – 18 (approx 120) in connection with Ulverston Printfest. The workshops, taking place May – October 2010 will provide high quality art provision for geographically isolated schools and the opportunity to work with professional artists to develop printmaking techniques.
Robert Ferguson School, Carlisle
Writer Jannie Howker was engaged in a creative writing project which took place June 2010. Seventy-seven Year 3/4 children were involved. The aim was to encourage enthusiasm for writing and to provide opportunities to express ideas imaginatively.
